Yanagawa Dojo 40^th Anniversary

On Sunday, November 10^th, the embukai commemorating the 40^th anniversary of Yanagawa Dojo (Mr. Masahiko Shimokawa, Dojo Rep) was held at Yanagawa City Martial Art Hall. 

With many participants from nearby dojos as well as dojos in Fukuoka City, it was an embukai with a warm atmosphere. 

Yanagawa Dojo was founded by Kanji Miyagawa Sensei as the first representative of the dojo.

Currently, they continue to practice having Masahiko Shimokawa Sensei as the second representative of the dojo.

In Yanagawa where martial arts are particularly valued, I hope the dojo continues to spread Aikido appreciated by everyone.     

Godo Geiko (Joint practice)

On November 23^rd (a statutory holiday), a joint practice was held at Tenjin Dojo (50 people participated). 

In the second half of the class, I talked about Sogen Omori Roshi (a former president of Hanazono University / a master of Jikishinkage-ryu kenjutsu). When Omori Sensei attended a memorial service at Zojoji Temple, he was impressed by the posture of an old gentleman. The gentleman was standing with very soft looking and impressive posture very calmly. He also looked full of energy. Though Omori Sensei had never met Morihei Ueshiba Sensei before, he thought the gentleman was Ueshiba Sensei. When he checked at the reception later, he found the gentleman was truly Ueshiba Sensei. 

It was an impressive story.
