(A single plum blossom brings us just one more step to the warmth.)
The new year started with a terrible disaster. Many people lost their lives due to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the deceased and sincere sympathies for all those who have been suffered in the disaster.
Hatsu Geiko
On Tuesday, January 2nd, we had the annual Hatsu Geiko (New Year’s practice). We had approximately 100 participants including those who were back in Fukuoka for holidays, and enjoyed working up a good sweat together.
We called it a day without having the New Year’s party after the practice this time.
Branch Liaison Meeting
On Saturday, January 13th, the branch liaison meeting was held at Aikikai Hombu Dojo. After the meeting, the New Year’s reception was held at Keio Plaza Hotel. I left in the middle of the reception to attend another party hosted by Yokohama Shomonkai. Eighteen people attended the party including those whom I had not seen for a long time.
Aikikai Kagami Biraki
Aikikai Hombu Kagami Biraki was held on Sunday, January 14th, and I headed back to Fukuoka after the ceremony.
Shoheijuku Kagami Biraki
On Sunday, January 21st, we held the Shoheijuku Kagami Biraki ceremony at Tenjin Dojo. We had a practice from 10 AM to 11 AM (130 people attended), followed by the ceremony at 11 AM (Mr. Takayoshi Kanado, MC). We gave a silent prayer for the victims of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and bowed to Shomen. Then we had a silence for the founder and the second Doshu, greetings and dedicatory embu by Dojocho, and the certificate award ceremony. After the ceremony, we held the instructors’ meeting.
