Shoheijuku Newsletter September 2022

Shochu Geiko – 64 Completed

For seven days between the beginning and the 10th of August, we had Shochu Geiko at each Shoheijuku dojo. Regardless of COVID-19 and the extreme heat, as many as 64 people had perfect attendance.

The number of perfect attendees at each dojo is as follows:

Fukuoka Dojo – 10
Takasago Dojo – 10
Hombu Dojo – 8
Omuta Dojo – 8
Motooka Dojo – 8
Fujisaki Dojo – 6
Ijiri Dojo – 5
Chikushino Dojo – 4
Tenjin Dojo – 3
Gokoku Dojo – 2

On the perfect attendance award towel this year, I wrote 実践躬行 (Jissen Kyuko), but I wrote the third character (躬) incorrectly. I would like to correct it here:

I apologize for the mistake.

Jissen Kyuko means putting something into practice rather than being all talk.

The founder, Morihei Ueshiba Sensei, says in his book Aiki Shinzui (The Essence of Aiki),

As we say “It is easier said than done,” we must not be a theorist. We must practice all the time.

Board Meeting Held

On Sunday, July 31st, we held a Board of Directors’ meeting of Shoheijuku as a nonprofit organization (NPO) at Hassenkaku Restaurant, and we discussed the current situation, activity reports, etc.

Mr. Junzo Kusukubo, who served as a director for many years since we became an NPO, offered to step down as a director. After a discussion, his voluntary retirement was unanimously accepted.

I sincerely appreciate Mr. Kusukubo for serving as a director for a long time.

I would like to inform you that Mr. Takato Kanado was recommended as his successor.

Hita Shoheijuku

On Saturday, August 20th, an examination for Hita Shoheijuku (Mr. Shinichiro Hashimoto, Dojo Rep) was held at Hita City Sports Center. This time, we did not have a practice session due to COVID-19.

In the evening, we enjoyed talking with lots of laughter as watching fishing with cormorants on a roofed boat in Mikuma River.
