Uji Shoheijuku
On Saturday, April 3rd, the examination and seminar for Uji Shoheijuku (Mr. Taizo Ochi, Dojo Rep) was held at Fushimi Youth Activity Center in Kyoto City. In a usual year, we would have a social gathering with participants from other dojos at a riverside restaurant on Uji River. Last year and this year, we could not do it due to COVID-19. It was unfortunate but I received the “Genki (energy)” from all the seminar participants.
Kumamoto Dojo
On Sunday, April 11th, the examination for Kumamoto Dojo (Mr. Hirokazu Honda, Dojo Rep) was held at Kumamoto Martial Art Hall. Though we had the examination only and did not practice this time, I received a lot of questions one after another and felt everyone’s enthusiasm.

Munakata Area
On Sunday, April 18th, we had the joint examination and seminar for the Munakata area dojos at Okagaki Town Martial Art Hall. Seven dojos in the area participated. The children class students went home after the examination, and we had the seminar only with the adult members.
We usually have a social gathering after the seminar as looking out to the ocean in Tsuyazaki, but it was cancelled this year as well as last year.
Shoyukai
On Sunday, April 25th, the examination for Shoyukai (Mr. Yasuhiko Nakadeguchi, Dojo Rep) was held in the Ju-Kendo Room at Hiji Town Public Hall in Oita Prefecture. This time, we had the examination only because the number of COVID-19 positive cases was increasing in the prefecture.
Many children took the examination and they were well-mannered both for taking and watching the examination. Moreover, I could tell through the examination how cheerfully they practice every day.
If you look smart when you get older, you are not mature enough yet. If you make others and yourself nervous, you are stiff and have lots more to work on.
